Jacob deGrom, one of the best performing Mets in franchise history, will leave New York after nine seasons to join the Texas Rangers on a five-year contract. DeGrom, 34, pitched 1,326 regular season innings for the Mets dating back to his debut in May 2014, just before he turned 26 years old. His 2.52 ERA over the span of 209 starts is the lowest among all-time Mets pitchers who threw at least 1,000 innings for the organization.
